On December 2, Ridley High School had its very first author Skype session with none other than Jonathan Maberry! Mr. Maberry is the author of student favorites Rot & Ruin and Dust & Decay. He was kind enough to Skype with us from his home office in Warrington, PA. He spent about an hour speaking with our students and answering their questions about his writing process, “why zombies,” and what he’ll be working on next. About 80 excited students got to participate in this “virtual” author visit! Their questions for Mr. Maberry were thought-provoking and really showed how much they love his books!
We were especially excited to learn that there will be two more books in the series. Look for Flesh & Bone in 2012 and Fire & Ash in 2013! Hopefully this was only the first of many author Skype sessions to come!
Have you ever counted down to zero on New Year’s Eve? Or watched a top 10 video countdown on MTV? Well, Ridley High School has its very own Top Ten List of the most popular books that are checked out from the library. If you’re interested in reading one of these “Ridley Best-Sellers,” you know where to find them — right here in the library! The list changes all the time, so check back frequently! The book currently occupying the top spot is (drum roll, please …) Rot & Ruin by Jonathan Maberry.
This page-turner is set in a futuristic version of the country, when most of the world has been turned into a zombie-infested Rot and Ruin. Huge fences surround the few remaining towns, and bounty hunters patrol the roads between them so supplies can pass safely from town to town. 15-year old Benny hopes to follow in his older brother’s footsteps and become a bounty hunter, but when one of the girls from his village is kidnapped, he must head out into the Rot and Ruin and face something that’s even worse than zombies. Don’t miss the sequel, Dust & Decay:
