In This District, Hunger’s No Game!

This November, the Library is running our second annual FOOD FOR FINES program. Students who owe a library fine are invited to donate canned or non-perishable food items. Every donated item = $1 in waived library fines!

Students who don’t owe any library fines are also invited to participate. These students may donate cans of food in exchange for a raffle entry for tickets to see THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY, PART 1 (or the movie of their choice), which opens on Nov. 21!

All donations will go to a local food bank that is working to fight hunger in our area. Spread the word!

All of Hollywood is abuzz …

… and ditto for Ridley High School! And that’s because a casting decision has finally been announced for the upcoming movie production of The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. And the role of Katniss Everdeen goes to … JENNIFER LAWRENCE, who is best know for playing tougher-than-nails Ree Dolly in Winter’s Bone. Anyone who saw that movie (a) won’t soon forget that squirrel-skinning scene and (b) knows that Lawrence has already perfected Katniss’ game-snaring skills. If you haven’t already read The Hunger Games, do not wait one more day! Because as amazing as this movie is going to be, the book is always better!
