Just in Time for Prom Season!

When you discover students giggling over the painfully dated pictures in your library’s copy of The Five-Minute Hairstylist by Christine Moodie, it’s time for an update!

Moodie

Enter Hairstyled: 75 Ways to Braid, Pin & Accessorize Your Hair by Anne Thoumieux, who’s a beauty editor, blogger, and TV personality in Paris. From the cover alone, you can tell that these hairstyles are modern, fresh, and fun! This book is organized to help you select a look, style it, and get out the front door feeling confident but not too “done up.”ThoumieuxEach chapter features at least six styles that are rated from one to three scissors for difficulty. They cover buns, braids, curly hair, straight hair, “For a Night Out,” and more. Step-by-step instructions are accompanied by numbered photos that clearly demonstrate how to achieve each look. Lists of required styling tools and helpful tips round out the instructions.Buns_HairstyledI particularly love the creative ideas featured in Chapter 3: Headbands and Chapter 4: Accessories. One called Scattered Flowers, using real rosebuds, is my favorite! I only wish that Thoumieux had included images in the Glossary of Styling Tools to help out the true style novices.

Whether you’re up for trying a new ‘do yourself or just want to browse for some style inspiration, Hairstyled is for you! Thank you to Blogging for Books for providing a copy in exchange for an honest review!
