If you’ve stopped by the library lately, maybe you’ve seen the Pickett’s Picks 2014 bulletin board! It features lots of upcoming books from favorite authors and some incredible new series-starters, too. Here are just a few of the books that I can’t wait to read and share with students at Ridley High School:

Atlantia

Atlantia by Ally Condie: Rio has always dreamed of leaving the underwater city of Atlantia, but after she is unexpectedly stranded she must unlock the secrets of her siren voice to save Atlantia from destruction.

Glory O’Brien’s History of the Future by A.S. King: In this masterpiece about freedom, feminism, and destiny, author A.S. King tells the epic story of a girl coping with devastating loss at long last–a girl who has no idea that the future needs her, and that the present needs her even more.

give_you_sun

I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson: A story of first love and family loss follows the estrangement between daredevil Jude and her loner twin brother, Noah, as a result of a mysterious event that is slowly brought to light.

bright_places

All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven: The Fault in Our Stars meets Eleanor and Park in this exhilarating and heart-wrenching love story about a girl who learns to live from a boy who intends to die. Soon to be a major motion picture starring Elle Fanning!

20549288

The Perfectionists by Sara Shepard: From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Pretty Little Liars comes another series full of juicy secrets, nail-biting suspense, and beautiful girls who will do anything to hide the ugly truth.

Afterworlds

Afterworlds by Scott Westerfeld: In alternating chapters, Darcy Patel navigates the publishing world and Lizzie, the heroine of Darcy’s novel, slips into Afterworld to survive a terrorist attack and becomes a spirit guide, as both girls face challenges and love alike.

What are YOUR picks for 2014?? Leave me a comment, or stop by the library to let me know. Happy reading!
