It is time once again for the Ridley School District’s community reading project, READ GREEN (Great Reading Enriches Every Neighborhood). This year’s theme is close to my heart: Caring for Our Environment. Participating in READ GREEN this February couldn’t be easier. Read one of the books, listen for morning messages on caring for the planet, and think about ways to go a little bit greener every day! I’m excited to reveal the books that have been selected for the elementary, middle, and high school levels:
Just a Dream by Chris Van Allsburg (elementary)
Crunch by Leslie Connor (middle and high school)
Flush by Carl Hiaasen (middle and high school)
And Then Everything Unraveled by Jennifer Sturman (high school)
The New 50 Simple Things Kids Can Do To Save the Earth by Sophie Javna (high school – check out the book’s cool companion Web site)
Jennifer Sturman’s And Then Everything Unraveled is a delicious mystery with an environmental twist:
First there was a disappearance.
Then there was a clue.
Then there was a kiss.
And then … everything unraveled.
We have copies aplenty in the library, so stop by today to check one out. Go green, be green, and READ GREEN!
