Did you know that a new edition of the MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers was published in March of 2009? The MLA Handbook is the basis for our Ridley Research Guide, and this 7th edition of the book has a lot of changes. Specifically, there are new formats for citing books and Web sites on your Works Cited page. Every student at Ridley High School will receive an updated Ridley Research Guide in English class this year. The Research Guide is also linked from the library home page. Special thanks to Mrs. Gawbill for her input and assistance with updating the guide!
Examples of how to cite a book and a Web site using this new format:
Author’s Last Name, Author’s First Name. Title of Book: Subtitle. City of Publication:
Publishing Company, Date. Print.
Author’s Last Name, Author’s First Name. “Name of Web Page.” Title of Web Site.
Publisher of Web Site, Copyright Date. Web. Date of Access. <URL>.
As always, stop by the library to ask for help if you have any questions about these new citation formats. We will all learn them together this year!
